Have any lung transplant patients here had norovirus and successfully cleared it? I am a caregiver/relative to someone with post transplant (almost 10 years) who has a nasty case. Essentially she is starving as she is unable to keep food down for the last 6 weeks. After some urging, the transplant team agreed to take a stool sample, and only then could confirm a diagnosis of norovirus. A course of nitozoxanide was prescribed, which temporarily knocked back the symptoms. We requested a follow up sample, and have not heard back. Meanwhile, I am seeing information from reliable sources (NIH, J of infectious diseases, and other European sources) about some successful treatments with ribovirin and immunoglobulins. Has anyone had any experience with these treatments? They are (off label) FDA approved. The situation is getting more serious, and I don't understand why she is not being hydrated and nourished parenterally and these treatments at least considered. Thanks
