Hello all, I successfully completed 6 weeks of proton beam radiation and 5 chemo treatments on Friday February 23✔️. Overall doing well, while managing “afterburn” side effects. With no appointments, we headed to our lake home for a change of scenery, so I won’t be joining tonight.
I am grateful for this group, your tips and shared experiences helped me through this stretch. Thank you!

I had 30 treatments over a 6 week period. Chemo was weekly which was added to enhance the radiation. Major side effects for me were a bad sunburn effect on my neck where the beam was targeted. Nauseous feeling which killed the appetite, weight loss, dry mouth and mouth sores. Lingering effects continue after treatment. Topical treatments on the neck are key and forcing your self to eat for fuel and function is essential and dry mouth meds are helpful. Hope this helps! Take care!
