Hello Mr. Preusler. I'm srhappy on Just want to talk, Mayo Clinic, a happy senior. I live in west central Florida with my wife who suffers from many ailments, perhaps most significantly COPD (stage 3). She has some good moments during the day but hasn't felt well for months. I have a neuromuscular, hereditary, progressive condition (CMT2) so gait and balance make mobility challenging. For the most part, though, I'm doing okay. I am devoted to her care. She maintains the household business dealings (bills, repairs, lawncare). She has a social network. We get along well. She is determined to stay right here in our modest but adequate ranch-style home. I'd like to join your caregivers' support group but I don't want to do a zoom meeting from 11 - Noon on 8/25. She is overly anxious and I am deferential as much as possible. Just don't want her to hear and interfere. I think this support group would be helpful. Is there a way I might participate via correspondence? I am up early in the morning. I'm 78 years old, male, and she is 74, female and we are mutually supportive on daily things, but not when it comes to best health practices. Suggestions? Rob srhappy

Good Morning.. I am Ann.. I care for my daughter who is 58.. I am 82... Do you mean personal care like Bath, hair care, or medically health like exercise, eating well?? taking meds?? Thanks

Thank you for comment, Ann, @pattyann777 . I hadn't considered personal care-giving with my wife, such as bathing or hair care. I haven't been doing that, but rather with getting groceries, doing dishes, cooking, encouraging her medical appointments and regimens, and limiting my freeom in order to be with her. Her health is very fragile and I often do not know what to do for her. Your question has me thinking I am lucky that she is as well as she is.

I went onto the long haulers site and also realized how lucky Beth and I
am. Beth takes care of her personal stuff.. But does not want to go out
side or out of the house... She walks with a walker but I know she could
walk on her own but fear or anxiety of falling again limits her.. When she
got it she was in she was in the hosp or rehab for over 2 months.. It ils
hard to hold the middle ground and push too much.. I have to lean on the
Lord a lot.. and I have always been an outdoor person and try to still get
out and walk some.. I am to have back surgery in about 2 week. Bless
your heart for being there to care for her... Hang in there,

Ann, I wish you and Beth every encouragement from physicians and family and church to sustain such health as you both can enjoy. May your back surgery lead to greater ease of mobility with less pain. You're a trooper! Yes, it helps to know others are trying to "hang in there" too. Thanks for your encouragement.
