I have just been diagnosed with the spread of metastatic breast cancer.
I had a mastectomy on my left breast two years ago.
No radiation was needed then, as the lymph nodes were tested clear.
They said they got it all, but not so
I am now waiting for a chemo drug to be cleared for me to take to manage my cancer.
I am told there is no cure for this cancer.
I am told this drug or any other drug that will work will attempt to stop the growth of cancer in my bones and/or liver, etc.
To say I am devastated is an understatement.
Am I in the right place for this type of breast cancer discussion? If not, please advise me where to go for information.

If you caught the spread early and get the right treatment now you should have a good chance of stopping or delaying the advance for a long time.
My spouse caught it early by self examination and we had some luck getting into a good place for treatment. We still had problems of over enthusiastic radiation treatment when she didn’t need them at all.
But she’s three years into the treatment and no evidence of return despite her decision to drop an oral prescription because of side effects. We’re in our eighties and managing well so far.
Keep you confidence and optimism strong and get on at least one prayer list.
God Bless you and your loved ones.

I can't imagine. If it can't be cured, can it indefinitely treated? This is what we all fear the most, a bad call. Please know I will be checking in with you if that's all right.

That indeed is the worst part. For me, it's trying to control my mind more than my body. People are walking around living with Stage 4. It's unbelievable to me. I'm 70, I recently went to a high school reunion where two of my friends have stage 4 and one has lived with it for 14 years. We are indeed blessed. But the not knowing, waiting for the other shoe to drop, and where the hell in my body will it rear its ugly head next-- is the stuff you feel in every cell of your body. Please keep us updated on your future treatment, how the chemo pill is working out, etc. I'll be thinking of you !

I am still waiting for the approval of a chemo pill.
Very frustrating, as my appointment with the oncologist doctor was over a week ago.

I have been diagnosed and had a lumpectomy for Stage 1 breast cancer. Also have osteoporosis. Which infusion is best? Reclast or Zometa?

REPLY

Hello! I’m not sure if one is better then the other? Perhaps others can chime in.

I personally have had three Zometa infusions without any problems. Zometa was prescribed to keep osteoporosis at bay and also adds protection from recurrence to the bone. ♥️

Try visualization.turn on some classical music ,lay down relax with the music and visualize with any icon you are comfortable with religious or otherwise. And visualize that going to the source of your cancer. It worked for me with triple negative evasive Hat have you got to loose, this is so stressful you have to try to teach your body and mind to relax. The power of the mind is incredible along with the treatment they are giving. It is hard but stay positive. I will be praying for you.
