Have you had a jaw joint replacement: What tips or advice do you have?

I am scheduled to have jaw joint replacement at Mayo on June 19.
Just looking for suggestions, advice and experiences that you have had.

Hi @donnaj50, there are several members who have had jaw reconstruction and/or replacement, such as temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, mandible reconstruction with fbula free flap or skull base free flap reconstruction, etc. To help me connect you with others, can you share a bit more? What type of jaw joint surgery are you having?

Hi Colleen, I am having a jaw joint replacement. When I look at the details of my surgery on the Mayo website it says RECONSTRUCTION TOTAL TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT WITH FOSSA AND CONDYLAR IMPLANT.
