Yippie Ki-Yay,…It’s Bell Day!

Posted by mjp0512 @mjp0512, 5 days ago

Well…I rang the bell at 10:48AM. IMRT to prostate x 20 @ 275gy - total 5500

Side effects - minor to moderate gastric discombobulation, some urinary frequency, fatigue and Jello legs.

Staff, “You can expect the worst of any short-term side effects about a week from now and last for 7 to 10 days. Then they will curtail.”

Me, “I couldn’t care less so long as I can “side effect” in my own bathroom and not have to know the location of every public rest room on my 2-hour drive here and back. See ya!”

What’s next? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PIZZA for lunch and a 2-inch-thick T-Bone for dinner!!!

Gastric issues be damned.

Congrats! Best of luck!

I rang the bell 5 months ago. My experience - only side effects were bladder irritation and minor incontinence - this from 28 proton radiation sessions.

Staff is being optimistic at least from my own experience. For 6 weeks I sometimes couldn't make it to the BR. Learned the fast Penguin waddle. Pro tip, ensure the seat is down as it is one less step lol. 7 months later I still have an occasional Imodium day. I hope you care team is right. 25 sessions here.

It's been a little over 24 hours since my last zapping. As I listen to my digestive system say, "You dumbass, there's a reason they told you to maintain your treatment diet," and I deal with my inability to venture more than 20 feet from the bathroom, I have to ask myself. Was eating pizza and steak really worth it?

Yes... yes it was. Every delicious bite. 😁😁😁

Congratulations. 🔔🔔🔔

Hope your recovery goes smoothly.

I drove 1 hr 15 mins every week day, each way, for 8 weeks during my salvage radiation treatment, so I am familiar with the vagaries of the travel and can empathize.

Be well.
