Wrist dislocated after crush injury.

Posted by dan197092 @dan197092, Nov 26, 2023

My wrist was crushed and dislocated. This happened on 10/3. The doctor pinned all the little bones back in proper position. I am no longer in pain and I am slowly regaining feeling as I had acute carpal tunnel’s. My fingers are still pretty stiff but in the meantime I am going to hand therapy to get fingers moving. I guess my question is what should I expect next. I have an appointment on 12/12 to discuss wrist and possibly removing pins. I know this injury will take time to recover from. I have just never been through anything like this. Any help or if you have been through anything like this I would appreciate your support.

I broke my wrist 3 years ago. My (dominant) right hand dislocated in two directions and my wrist bones rolled into my arm. My surgeon installed a metal plate which he removed in a 2nd surgery. I was amazed to have full use of my hand with no pain in about six months. Physical therapy is clutch. I’m also lucky to have an excellent hand surgeon.

Thanks Pruitt for the response. That’s promising for me. Doctor told me it would take at least 6 months to recover.

I had my pins removed from wrist last Wednesday. I go get dressing removed on Tuesday. My doctor said I was in home stretch with a lot of therapy.
