Why am I throwing up when I have a bowel movement?

I am 79 years old and for the last three years I’ve been seeing a G.I. doctor. Says I have ulcerative colitis is giving me steroids. I also threw up often when I had a bowel movement .
The response from my doctor is he does understand why am throwing up.
