Who else had a MRI finding of a Non-mass enhancement (NME), that when biopsied came back cancer?
I just had my left breast biopsy and when they did a follow up MRI my right breast showed a NME which was not seen on a Mammogram or Ultrasound. the finding was written as Upper inner mid depth nodular(cluster) non-mass enhancement measures 10 x 7 mm. I have not be diagnosed with anything yet but benign findings on the left and due to the placement of the NME they started the MRI biopsy but had to cancel and change the approach.

I had the same thing, mammograms and ultrasound were all negative/normal, but I was having a slight nipple discharge from my left breast. The MRI with contrast showed non mass enhancement, so a biopsy was done. The biopsy showed DCIS grade 2 which was later upgraded to grade 3.
I had a lumpectomy, followed by radiation and will probably do endocrine therapy. Scary that the cancer doesn’t show on routine screening since there are no micro-calcifications, but that does happen with DCIS about 10-20% of the time. Thank goodness that they can “see” the cancer with MRI.
I am 70, didn’t expect this but who does? Best of luck, you’re not alone, and it may not be cancer at all! 💚
