What you learn about treatment as you are on the journey.

This post is about what we learn about our treatment, as we go through treatment.
My thyroid cancer was outside the thyroid wrapped around my trachea. I am a patient at MSK. I had a highly experienced surgeon.
Post surgery I went through 35 radiations and 6 chemotherapy boosters.
...I asked the radiation oncologist many times - what part of my body are you targeting. I got 3 different answers. Frustrated, I finally asked for a written description.
As the treatment progressed, they were changing the target area. The last week was focused on my cricoid.

This week I met with the radiation oncologist. My treatment ended March 7, 2025. My PET Scan and CT scan look very good. See you in one year, she said.
And she told me then (I didn't know before) that they have only done this treatment to about 300 people since the mid 1990s.
(The surgeon chose not to cut my trachea, because he knew of the radiation plans.)

My main point is we need a very good team and we need to trust our team.
