What is the general feeling these days about RAD 50 mutation
Over 10 years ago I was diagnosed with BC. Due to family history with a sister and mother having had BC they ran some genetic testing. I came up with a RAD 50 mutation. Nearly every top cancer associated with RAD 50 was present in my father, or his side of the family. My mom had already passed but my father got tested and he had it. This caused me to have risk reduction surgery to remove the non-cancerous breast, and remove my ovaries and fallopian tubes. Five years later I was dx with primary lung cancer. Five years into my cancer journey I did a follow up with genetics counselor and they had decided being a germline mutation it didn’t have a direct correlation to causing cancers. They suggested I revisit again, every five years. Now I’ve moved and not close to a genetic counselor. Has anyone recently been advised that they now believe there is a stronger connection to cancers?
