What amount of Calcium to take

Hi, when using drugs like forteo or tymlos that can raise blood calcium, does this mean one should reduce intake of calcium in the diet or not? My dr had said i needed more, but now I'm a bit unsure. How much calcium/D is right to take so you don't have too much or little in your system?
