What about my jaw bone??I have all my teeth.
I have a stellar dentist there are only 2 offices in our small town. But he knows absolutely nothing about osteoporosis except for the risk of jaw necrosis if you are on meds. I’m a new diagnosis waiting for my Tymlos appeal. My concern is I’ve read somewhere that it’s a nightmare if you need to have a tooth pulled. What happens? I’m 68 yo and that is a real possibility in the future. I know about the necrosis because I have taken care of these patients before. But what about dental issues if you have the bone growth in your jaw. Or am I misinformed??? Thanks for all your wisdom.

Janines, neither Tymlos or Forteo carries the risk of osteonecrosis as do all of the other osteoporosis medications. Forteo is prescribed to treat the notoriously difficult to treat osteonecrosis of the jaw.
I haven't heard about bone growths except one patient report from someone on bisphosphonates.
I hope your appeal is successful. Congratulations about having all your teeth.
I wish you lots of luck with the process of getting your attending doctors to meet, in the middle of the stream, and help you find your way over the hurdles. That's what we need them for. I am 77, and I have a pothole in one tooth. My dentist wants to remove the tooth but the osteo doctor wants to hold on. I feel like a pig with 5 legs tied behind my back.
