Vitamin D was 16 but now >150 after high doses prescribed

In 6 months my vitamin D went from 16 to >150, which can be toxic, after being told by rheumatologist to take 158,000 IU per week. Yes. 158,000. Just had the first bloodwork done since starting the high dose supplements. All I’ve been told (by voicemail) is stop taking. No indication as to what else I can do. Severe thirst. Fatigue. No nausea.

I think it is more practical, consistent and realistic to calculate a daily dose instead of a weekly amount. My endocrinologist said I could take 800 - 1600 IU daily which would be a maximum of 11,200 weekly. That is what I do. I don’t recall what my last test results were but my doc was satisfied and didn’t make any changes. Maybe “stop taking” is your doctor’s version of a dose change? Have you reported the symptoms you are having to your doctor?

My Dr.’s office did say “stop all vitamin D and calcium. “ I was taking 50,000 IU on M-W-F and 2,000 IU on Sun-Tues-Thur-Sat. Total 158,000 IU per week.
Stopped multivitamins also because of Vitamin D.
Heard from Dr office by voicemail only (nurse), telling me to stop. I feel I’m left hanging. Have left messages for Dr. No more response. Maybe front office issue, so tried again. Nothing.
