Upper Back disk bulge causing nerve pain and other bizarre symptoms

Posted by spade976 @spade976, 2 days ago

So I had a deadlift injury a few years ago. I was in better shape at the time and it seemed to not be a big deal for the first year. . Over the last few years it has gotten worse and worse. I had dull pain there but it wasn’t debilitating until recently. I have put on some weight over that time period. I now have full blown nerve pain and can’t stand comfortably for more than 5 minutes. I also seem to have developed kyphosis which I’m currently going through a physical therapy routine to fix. I don’t have insurance and am slightly terrified right now. I am working on posture and nursing the location. The posture work is now causing pelvic and prostate issues and I can’t even sit comfortable for more than a few hours before more pain in my glutes comes. The prostate is on and off and goes down if I stay off it for a while. Does anybody know if this is related? I can still pee without burning and like I said the pain goes down if I just lay off it for a while. I have the nerve pain down to just a general localized aching and not all the crazy flashing and referred pain. I still can’t sit long and can’t stand long which is hell on earth. It’s only been about 3 weeks since things went nuclear which I know isn’t a long time: Any advice that isn’t go see a doctor would be helpful. I can’t afford to go at the moment and have to wait for open enrollment. Thanks!

Spade976, it sounds like a herniated disc. It would be good to have an MRI. https://radiologyassist.com/
You might prefer to wait since you are between insurance coverage. The thing is that all your efforts to help your back could be making the hernia worse. Sometimes a hernia can partially heal on its own.
I don't have a medical background, so consider that I might be completely wrong.
