Unusual excessive sweating.
Does anyone else experience excessive sweating during warm weather in particular areas around back of neck, head and upper chest? If so, can this be a result of sensory PN? Seems to be in areas that are not impacted by peripheral neuropathy.

In my case we are still searching but in my POTS could increase or decrease this output of sweat. Hope you find answers soon 🙏🏻 blessings and healing ❤️🩹
I can’t help you on this one - we seem to be quite opposite on this one, as I find I will feel like I’m burning up but don’t seem to be able to sweat any more.
I have this. The way it was explained to me, since some sweat glands aren’t functioning well any more, the others are allowing the sweat to be released. I realized this was happening to me over a period of a few years when I started carrying a bandanna in my car, to outings, etc.
Deb - My lower lower legs and feet are always cool to touch and at the same time, I can sweat like mad and this happens when I exercise. Summer is tough, slightest activity gives me issues. Weird how this PN effects us all differently yet there seems to be about a dozen or so common symptoms.
Same here.
I may have the answer to our problem. I say our because we have the same symptoms. Doing research on why the medical profession still uses 98.6 as the normal body temperature, I found my answer. It seem a doctor back in the 1860’s determined 98.6 was the temperature of the average person back then. When I read an article asking if I knew my temperature baseline, I did not. So I was supposed to start a journal and write down my body temperature at 6am, 12noon, 6pm and 11pm. I was to do this for three solid months. At the end, you averaged out the numbers and this is your baseline. To my total shock, my baseline was a mere 97.4 degrees. During the 3 months, half my numbers were higher and the other half lower. So I went to the #1 hospital in the United States, the Mayo Clinic and asked this question. When does a fever start? It gave me an immediate answer. A fever starts one tenth of a degree past your BASELINE. Huh, I said aloud, my baseline is 97.4, so they’re saying at 97.5, I’m getting a fever. The body temperature fluctuates all day long but their answer is correct. It uses my baseline as the starting point, not my actual temperature of the body at the time of the measurement.
So now here’s the kicker, I’m always cold, remember 97.4 and by the time my temperature reaches the 98.6 reading, I’m running a fever of 1.2 degrees. In order to adjust for the inaccurate reading, if a person with 98.6 as their baseline, they’d feel like they had a fever of 99.8. That’s almost 100 degrees, get the point, the American Medical Society sure doesn’t. A recent study determined that 97.9 is the actual new body normal temperature and I’m still one half a degree cooler than that. Now you can see why I don’t sweat a lot when it feels hot out, because I’m not hot, I’m cool to the touch. Do you know your baseline?
I am also a sweating woman.. Especially at nights, I have to change my pyjamas sometimes, but my hands and feet are extremely dry and cold most of the time.. I have sudden flush ups during the day too. My body temperature is a mess.. And this symptoms are increasing every day.. I have also neuropathic pain and fatigue.

Good evening @gregoria, thanks for sharing your SFN symptoms with us. I love the name you have given your sweat episodes.....flush ups. That is exactly what they feel like. I also have very cold feet and hands and join you in pain and fatigue. What have you found works best for you to control these symptoms?
May you be healthy and whole!
Chris
Same here, been living with that for a few years now .
Fatigue and pain too, every minute in a day is different.
Could it be a trait of a type of Dysautonomia? I had the sweat and heart rate test tilt test to check for that and the EMG. I also get cold hard livedo reticularis and Raynuds syndrome But it’s basically all about managing my symptoms in my case🌼
