Unilateral breast swelling after radiation on other breast

4 weeks ago I finished 5 sessions of radiation on my right breast after a lumpectomy. There was no lymph node involvement. 3 days after the last radiation, my other (left) breast was very tender in one area. 2 days after that it swelled up and has been that way ever since. I had a 3D mammogram today and it’s normal. Has anyone experienced this?

My breast was swollen for a few months after radiation. I guess that was due to the apoptosis that continued long after radiation. The dark color took about a year to fade away. Did you consult with the radiologist about it?

I just realize that you meant the other breast which didn’t received radiation. I don’t trust mammogram. I had dense breasts and mammogram didn’t detect cancer even when the cyst was palpable. Maybe an MRI is better?
