Ultrasound after surgery

I had surgery on Monday and was told it was successful, including lymph nodes. But the surgeon has ordered an ultrasound. Has that happened to anyone else? What would be the reason for the ultrasound? I welcome any thoughts. Age 67. Gleason 4+3.
