Ulcerative Colitis support group in Jacksonville

Good morning! I am looking for an Ulcerative Colitis support group for my daughter. She lives in Gainesville, but she would be open to one in Jacksonville-either place! She could really use some encouragement. Thank you!

I am looking for a UC support group that can help me through the first few months of diagnosis. My Gastroenterologist told me I have UC after my colonoscopy. I asked what medical program or medication can be prescribed to help with this and I was told by her that there is nothing can be done. My colon one the part under my left rib area is inflamed and she has done nothing to help me. I don't understand and was wanting to know what are the types of medication can be given to aid in helping with this.
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Please talk to your doctor again, and/or get another opinion. There are medications for UC that will help get it into remission, and keep it there. I don't know your individual situation, and so can't guess why your GI doctor told you that.

I don't know of support groups in your area, but check out the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. They have online support groups, and may have some links to in person ones.
