Type 2 diabetes and peripheral neuropathy are they connected
I have borderline Type2 diabetes and Peripheral neuropathy of my feet. I am considering asking my GP about Metformin to treat the diabetes
It suddenly occurred to me that by treating the diabetes with Metformin it might also help my peripheral neuropathy as well.
Has anyone with type 2 diabetes and peripheral neuropathy been treated with Metformin for the diabetes.
Did they notice an improvement in both conditions

I developed Type 2 diabetes from taking a cholesterol drug and then came Type 2 diabetes. That’s what caused my PN. I have no pain just numbness in my feet and legs. Metformin did zero for me. I take zero drugs for PN because nothing works. I learned to live with PN.
Metformin might help you control your diabetes with diet change. Probably if you have already developed PN. The damage is done. You can help control it with diet. But hardly ever eliminate it .
I should add. I have taken metformin. I was pre diabetic. I have brought my AIC. Down through diet and exercise. I do not take metformin now Still have PN
