Tymlos and sinus congestion

Posted by srk1 @srk1, Nov 17, 2023

Hi - I recently started Tymlos and have developed terrible sinus congestion. I’m negative for Covid (fortunately) and have no other cold/flu symptoms. Has anyone else experienced this?
Thank you

When the blood vessels expand, people can experience sinus congestion. If this is a symptom that occurs several hours close to your injection, Tymlos is likely the cause. If it doesn't resolve in the several hours after, it still may be the Tymlos.
Himilayan cedars are casting fine yellow powder here. But I haven't taken Tymlos.
Legitimate answers will follow.

I recently started Tymlos but have only worked up to 2 clicks or 20mcg. I have noticed sinus congestion. I'm not sure if it's from the med or some new allergies.

Drsuefowler,
some on Forteo and some on Tymlos exerience sinus congestion. It wasn't signaled in the clinical trials. But lots of effects aren't signaled in osteoporosis trials because we of the double X don't like to complain, doubt our experience and have highly developed tolerance for discomfort.
If you experience the congestion in the first four hours following your injection, I would say it is definitely the medication. The vasodilation is unavoidable with an injection of PTH. But the sinus response may abate. On the other hand, your new allergy may be an allergy to (with Tymlos I suspect the preservative) ha, the drug.

Thanks for your replies, and so sorry others are experiencing this. My doctor started me at the full dose of 80. I have lots of allergies and a couple of autoimmune diseases - and am wondering if the Tymlos is sending stuff into overdrive as I’ve been congested around the clock for the few days. Any thoughts on how to figure out if it’s an allergic reaction (vs me just being sick)? I just started Tymlos 6 days ago and want to give it a chance.

One nice thing about Tymlos is that you can stop it for a day or two without penalty.
Some really smart posters have started at lower doses and built up to the 8 clicks to allow their bodies time to adjust. I'm on Forteo, so this is just hearsay.
I hope you have luck with Tymlos.

For many decades, sinus congestion is an ongoing familial issue for me and its bad 2-3 hours after I getup.

I am 14 months into Tymlos regime. This year between late summer through mid fall, I started noticing pulsatile tinnitus (heart beat/pulse) in my left year when things were quite around me and when in bed. I was a bit worried and visited ENT who was of no help. Luckily, now its not an issue. As already stated, sinus congestion has not been identified as a side effect of Tymlos.
