Tymlos and Loss of Appetite

Posted by ykr @ykr, Nov 10 7:00am

Has anyone on Tymlos experienced a loss of appetite, thus weight loss? I have been on Tymlos for 7 months and have experienced both. This was not a problem prior to being on Tymlos.

Has anyone experienced the above while on Forteo or Evenity?
Thank you!

Yes - I have been on tymlos for 18 months and had loss of appetite. Make sure your calcium level is ok because high level of calcium could also be the cause.
I was able to gain back 5 of the 10 pounds lost by eating a lot when I was hungry. It was not easy since I always would stop when almost full, ( hard to change many years of “dieting”) I would eat approximately another 2-3 hundred calories after the time I would normally stop eating. Maybe low fat cheese or yogurt with berries.
My 18 month bone scan showed good results ( I posted on another post) and will continue until 2 years on tymlos.

Normal labs. Endocrinologist didn't think loss of appetite and weight was related to Tymlos, thus seeking the input from others.

Thanks so much!

My internist and rheumatologist said it was a possible side effect - loss of appetite is also listed as side effect on drugs.com
