Tymlos and facial hair growth

My name is Chris and I am a mentor for the group. Would it be possible for you to give us a little more information about your question?

Are you injecting Tymlos daily at this time? Did you begin to have facial hair growth when you started Tymlos? Hair growth after menopause is not unheard of. In fact, there is a topical ointment that can be prescribed to prevent hair growth as a result of menopause.

What do you do for this unwanted hair? Is your Doctor aware of your concern?

I have not experienced this, and have been on it for more than a year. That does not mean you are not experiencing it. I wonder though if there are other possible causes.

I am a 77-yr old female of Indian descent and been only two months since I started Tymlos injection. Below are the side effects I am noticing:
- palpitation first few days and occasionally thereafter
- no facial hair growth
- noticeable pulse in the left year especially at night
- daily resting and post-exercise pulse 10 points higher than pre-Tymlos

If anybody has noticed the above, please post. Also, if anybody could share my comment w/wider Tymlos user group I will appreciate.

Hello Chris,
I have been injecting Tymlos daily for 3 months so far. My other side effects (headache, insomnia) are slowly diminishing. I noticed facial hair in the past month or so. I finished menopause over 10 years ago. I am also experiencing some head hair thinning but that may be seasonal. As of yet, I have not tried anything for the facial hair. I'm wondering if it's from the Tymlos, and if so, will it revert after my 18 months on it? Has anyone else reported facial hair growth?

Good morning @sbt54. Thanks so much for continuing your discussion. First of all: Vaniqa is a topical medication for unwanted facial hair. Mine started when I was told to stop the hormone treatment (Estrogen) I was taking during menopause because of the concern for breast cancer. That was in 1996 I believe. I don't use Vaniqa anymore. You can go to a salon that does threading or use a small instrument that removes the hair. My life partner has one and lets me use it.

There is more information about the side effects of Tymlos at http://www.tymlos.com. I didn't observe any mention of facial hair growth. However, it might be best to discuss this concern with your doctor.

Let's also wait a bit to see if any other Connect member responds with a similar issue.

I will again write, as I have on other threads, that I started Tymlos at 2 clicks of the pen and moved up as my body adjusted to it. This minimized side effects. Oddly, I take 7 clicks every day, and have for a year, but still cannot tolerate 8 clicks. If anyone is having unpleasant side effects, including @rajmayo22 , you could try going down a click or two on the dose. My doc was happy with 6 clicks but I did one better!
