Two Fingers are Numb

Posted by sosaidhaq @sosaidhaq, May 19, 2016

For the last 4 days, I am experiencing numbness in my two middle fingers of left hand. The extent of pain changes throughout the day. My doctor advised me to have a c.spine x ray which I did. Now he is telling me that I may never will be able to get away from this thing. He just recommended some remedies. If anyone has some experience or any information on the matter, please help.

Hi @sosaidhaq, and welcome to Connect, an online community where people can talk with other patients, ask questions and share experiences. I removed the link to your x-ray because it contained personal identifying information. You're welcome to share more about your condition on Connect though.

I'm tagging @sjpphil, @cvikas and @walden0228, all members who have recently discussed numbness in their fingers and hands. @sosaidhaq - I think the group could greatly benefit from the remedies your doctor recommended. What were his suggestions?

The numbness and tingling in my hands disappeared after an excellent hand
surgeon did my carpal tunnel surgeries. He is part of a great orthopaedic
and spine group here in CO. I'm sure Mayo has such also. Get the best
hand-knowlge person you can find.
I'm wondering if you have been checked for carpal tunnel syndrome? I had similar symptoms with the worst pain at night. I wore a splint at night that helped. I had carpal tunnel release surgery done on my left hand 7 years ago with great success in relieving my symptoms. 4 weeks ago I had the same surgery carried out on my right hand because I developed the same problem with my right hand. It appears to have been very successful as I am no longer experiencing any pain just a little residual tingling and numbness in my index finger that I expect to eventually disappear. Worth asking your doctor about nerve conduction test n your hand.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. I will ask my doctor to look up for the carpal tunnel syndrome. For now I am getting a splint to help get over that pain at night. Also, I found some exercises that can help.

There is a yoga position that helps that...look it up. There is probably a YouTube to help with the movement.
