Had a tubulovillous adenoma 5 years ago, late for followup colonoscopy
had 3rd colonoscopy exactly 5 years ago, doctor lied about results because he had to spend too much time and didn't want to do another on me. I found out only because I got my records. He found a sessile, resected, biopsies no dysplasia, but he also found a 2cm tubilovillous in right ascending colon that he totally resected but dropped and said he couldn't find because I wasn't adequately prepped, which was actually a total lie. So it never got examined under a microscope. Because these are slow growing, I think the first gastroenterologist missed it 5 years prior. He was an obnoxious arrogant guy who didn't like me.
I discovered this a year ago but the doctor I found then was awful and I had my first ever hemorrhoid and needed it to heal. He had no answers for me about anything, 2as just a doomsayer and hes that way with everyone, plus the staff was very rude, and lots of bad reviews. I already learned my lesson about this kind of doctor and didnt trust him. Found another one in the area who is a strange guy but has a great deal of skill and is actually very caring. I'm having the colonoscopy this coming Friday, Oct 25 and I'm very scared.
I read it takes years for one of these to form and more years to become cancer but I'm afraid the one found in 2019 was never examined so there's no info if it was free of dysplasia.. I take miralax every day because I had augmention poisoning last December from an unnecessary prescription for a minor bowel inflammation found with CT scan with dye that could have cleared with bowel rest, it was caused by too much fiber. only 5 pills caused huge yeast infection vaginal and anal, wiped out my bowel biome that is actually slowly returning to normal but because of a really bad time dealing with the new hemorrhoid I can't just stop the miralax. After colonoscopy I'm going to find a gut diet specialist in the hospital services.
So I'm terrified of cancer. It seems impossible for such a adenoma to grow from nothing to 2cm in five years but I'm still really scared of what he'll find. I'm in my mid 70s and otherwise in good health, take only a small dose of BP med. Does anyone know about these adenoma? I need to get past this fear before prep day Thursday because it's going to destroy my anus and I'm going to be a total emotional wreck and make it harder for myself and staff. Please help!

I had such an adenoma which was marked as having high displasia, so pre-cancerous, discovered at a first colonoscopy, two years ago. Then I had a transanal resection for it, almost 2 months later. Biopsy said positive margins, so I got radiation and everything going fine. Then a second colonoscopy a year after the first, 8.5 months after the end of the radiation, and I had a new or renewed adenoma, considered pre-cancerous. New surgery. Post-op surgery downgraded the polyp, so not pre-cancerous.
I have to see my rectal surgeon next month and we'll program a new colonoscopy.
So I'm not sure what goes on with the adenomas, but I understand why you feel worried. Sending a virtual hug.
My first colonoscopy in 2011 found a 1.6cm tubulovillous in my sigmoid colon tgat was seen by CT scan with contrast. It was benign, no dysplasia. It had most likely been growing for years. I think the one seen and resected in 2019 was there and he missed it. It takes years for one of those to get that large unless a person has FIP. Up to 20% of polyps are missed, I read, but I guess that's a matter of skill.
I know it's impossible for there to be a adenoma that large. I had a CT with contrast December 5, there was some stool in the colon but they would have seen a large adenoma and the doctor said they did not see any concerning growths. That was followed by an abdominal MRI. But I'm still scared, all that logic doesn't address fear, it's an emotion. I'm at an age where people get stuff wrong with them and eventually die from it. I won't stick around to suffer a gruesome pointless experience.
How did it all go for you?
Miniscule tubular adenoma less than 5mm, completely removed and examined, no followup needed, thanks for asking
