Treatment with DMSO
I have CRPS in my feet. I have been fight through trying everything from Morphine and Opiates to Cymbalta and Lyrica. I have only gotten minor relief. I heard about using DMSO from a friend who retired in Europe. He gets it for his Neuropathy. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it. I know it's used on horses and dogs but haven't heard much about it being used in humans.

I used it years ago. I remember the taste of oysters when put it on my back. It is a by product of the wood pulp industry. I had to order it from a doctor from out in the north west. At that time it was hard to get. It would burn and turn my skin red. I used it for failed back surgery pain.

1 ReactionI have never heard of this compound nor would I think of ingesting it...and I am willing to take most anything within reason for my migraines, but have not found a Dr. that will give me more than Tramadol 50mg 2 tabs 2 x a day. My parents had addiction issues which I would not have told them if I would have known they were going to
label me an "addiction Risk" and not treat my pain appropriately.

1 ReactionIt's better for getting things absorbed through the skin. If it'soluble in DMSO it can be applied through the skin in this manner. Otherwise I wouldn't ingest it.

1 ReactionWould use on your pets? If yes then it should ok to use it. I used with only 2 side effects. Taste of oysters was just for a couple of mi utes and same with the red skin and burning. I would not be afraid to use it again.
Have you tried a psychiatrist with a good reputation? They have meds that can be used for this, or things like sleeping, and they might be more understanding.
DMSO is a solvent and helps to deliver medicine through the skin, or nails. I've heard of some people getting relief and I've actually used it myself on toenail fungus to allow medicine penetration of the nail. But, you have to be careful as it may irritate the skin some. You can buy it at some health food and supplement stores. It's not expensive so it is worth a try, in my opinion.
