Total Shoulder Replacement C acne infection
Some years ago I had a TSR that more recently had a single stage revision. I now have a known low grade Cutibacterium infection. My question, could this infection be directly responsible for my blood Ferritin level of 1670 ? Kind regards.

Hello, my husband has a cutibacrerium infection post TSR in 2021. His Ferritin levels are fine. However he is not doing well at all. He has had worsening pain since his surgery in March of 2021 to the point that he has been unable to do the things we used to do. He kept going back and forth to the surgeon and he always said that the joint was fine, everything in place. Finally after being hospitalized while on vacation due to pain they decided to remove the prosthesis culture everything and put a reverse shoulder in. The fluid showed end stage chronic inflammation and was positive for the Cuti- bacterium within 2 days. He had 14 weeks of intravenous antibiotics and PT in November and now again has excruciating pain in his shoulder. They tryed putting in Mudlines for another round of IV antibiotics but the midline’s both failed due to clot formation. Now he some sort of issue with his coagulation in his blood and at risk for blood clots. Something called Lupus Anticoagulant. Some kind of auto immune disease. He is barellt able to function. I would love for the both of you to speak to each other.
We are so confused and not sure if this pain he is experiencing is from the the cuti bacterium or is it muscle or nerve damage. No one can tell us. We both are at our Wits end after over 4 yrs dealing with this
@lorrainegful get the surgeon to arrange an MRI OR CT SCAN to look for nerve or muscle damage. I am 5 1/2 years post surgery plus 6 revision surgeries and still have the infection have had every scan possible, and have had 3 picc lines and now for the last 2 years on high dose amoxicillin.
