Total Shoulder Replacement

Posted by chris5038 @chris5038, Apr 27 11:58am

I am a newbie to the group, a lot of information here. I unfortunately have had 4 replacements done to date over a 2 year span, last one being about 18 months ago. Left arm pain started this venture and pain/discomfort continues to this day and not sure where In am headed at this point with this, but need the discomfort part resolved. I am age 74 and was thinking I would be ok after this as a healthy veteran and senior. I used the best guy in my area for the procedure and apparently maybe not the best. He mis-diagnosed a TSR, 3 times before deciding that the rotator cuff was in fact bad. So suggestions for me as how to approach this now, this has also effected my other shoulder at this point since I had to rely on it for years and also 2 years in therapy. So looking for help and guidance, live in southwest Florida. Thanks.

So left should bad. Torn rotator cuff. First repair. BAD. Re-tore worse than before. So TSR. BAD. Things to remember. The rotator cuff are layers of muscle holding in the joint. Very strong and durable even if torn. If athletic or sports enthusiast it might be a difficult decision. But plain ordinary people can live with a tear and many do. TRS restricts movement of arm involved. It hurts for a while. Then aches. Clunks sometimes. Tires easily. Clipping hedges is difficult. Weakens the shoulder. There will be times when there is no option other than than TRS. Ortho surgeons and techniques have come along way. Same day surgery. PT.
