TNBC stage Ib: Wondering if it will come back?

Posted by gramgramems @gramgramems, Aug 11 4:04pm

Diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer after a new density on a mammogram. Double mastectomy March 2024 chemo then reoccurrence in the surgical flap in September 20 24, radiation 33 treatments and chemo and now immunotherapy. Senterea went from 0.02 to 0.00. Still wondering if it will come back.

Hope you are getting scans every 6 months.
You might want to check out the MD Anderson study on statins and TNBC.
Not much available to help us.
Stay positive.

Can you get scans if you had a double mastectomy and then DEIP flap reconstruction surgery?

I was just diagnosed in May with TNBC. 1c. This was my second breast cancer. The first was ER +PR+. I had a mastectomy in 2017 on my left breast for that. No radiation or chemo because low Onco test. I just had a mastectomy on my right breast in June for TNBC. All margins were clear. Now I am going through chemo. I was told that follow up blood tests or scans wouldn’t be helpful. What kind of scans are you getting?

Chest and abdomen scans. I also get Senterea blood test every 3 months to check on molecular blood cancer levels. Since I had local reoccurrence after my double mastectomy I did radiation and chemo. I am also doing key Truda infusions now for a year. New studies show that it is beneficial for triple negative breast cancer.

Hi @kedisaacs , I had a single mastectomy and a DIEP Flap and TNBC -- the scans I get are the blood scans, a Pet CT yearly, and a chest MRI and a left mammo yearly, alternated with each other so it's either MRI or mammo every 6 months.

I should imagine you could maybe alternate a CT or PetCT with an MRI with a double mastectomy, so you are getting scanned twice yearly, if they say no mammos needed.

I had Pet/Ct for first two years. Now blood work every 6 months and MRI, chest/abdomen and pelvis every year. I think this will continue indefinitely.
I am approaching 5 years, so I will see what is recommended. Push for all the testing you can get. I also had a double mastectomy and TNBC. We are at higher risk and should get thorough testing.
