TKR revision 5 months ago, can’t get leg to straighten
5 months post surgery and leg is not straight. Had MUA and surgeon said he didn’t want to push on knee because he didn’t want to break my bones. Has anyone experienced this problem. Working hard at PT and at home exercises. Nobody seems to know what to do about this.

How far off from zero are you. I had a 10 to 20° extension contracture prior to surgery and my surgeon could not get me to more than 6 or 7 ° without compromising stability. So I'm improved and am continuing to try to get it to go all the way straight. I'm 4 months post op. I doubt I'll ever get to and stay at zero.
My operative report says I’m at 3. I haven’t improved at all in 5 months. Surgeon says wherever I will be at a year that is probably the best I’ll get. Not real encouraging.
I wasn’t straight after my TKR (-8) and after MUA it actually was worse. My OT said I was his 2nd patient that improved the bend but extension got worse after an MUA.
Still at -12 extension and now talking revision because walking with this is very difficult. My bend also is only at 100 degrees and my MUA was 6 months ago. PT cut me loose after 3 1/2 months when they saw no progress, but I still do my exercises daily with no improvement seen.
I also cannot straighten my leg after 5 months. Almost and maybe that is the best I will get. It doesn’t affect anything so I guess it is ok.
I have the same problem at 5 mos and had an MUA at 2 months which worsened my bend and flexion. I limp when I walk and have constant pain. My dr wants to do a revision but I’d like to have another opinion. Other surgeons want to wait a year before considering revision. I’m so frustrated and never expected this to happen.
My only help is to picture a jelly donut under your knee with your leg outstretched on the bed and try to push that jelly out as hard as you can! Perhaps it was the visualization for me that helped. I've had a TNR and 2 revisions and it has worked for me every single time!
LOL Cute idea
