Total Knee Replacement worse after starting Repatha.....
Has anyone done Repatha after a total knee replacement ? I started this a month ago and took my second dose a few days ago. It seemed my knee got much more sore after the first dose and more sore after the second and sugar went up as well (non-diabetic). I know that Repatha can cause muscle soreness and joint pain but the joint itself is now metal but it is surrounded by many muscles. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. They are trying to get my insurance approved to get Praluent as I took that (had several in fridge) and never had an issue but my insurance made me try the Repatha.

Why are you taking something after replacing knee. I had both replaced and have not taken any thing. What went wrong?
Repatha is for high cholesterol and I an almost 2 years out. I can’t take statins. One of the issues with any statin in muscle issues and the two injections are monoclonal antibodies that bring cholesterol down but can have side effects. Many who have had a replacement still need their current meds as well as nsaids, tylenol etc…you are an exception if you needed no meds at all
I could not take repatha. , I had severe joint pain. Raised my liver rnzymes
4 left hip surgeries actebulum fracture and right hip surgery. It hurt to bad. I can take leqvia on patient assistance and don’t have any copay. One shot, another one 3 months later and then every six months.
I was fine doing Praluent but my insurance wanted me to try the Repatha. Well, I did and after the second dose called cardiology and said get me my Praluent and hoping insurance will cover it. I need it for cholesterol levels. It also raised my sugar and Praluent doesn't do that. I wish our insurance companies just filled what our Dr.'s feel is necessary because after all, they are Dr.'s for a reason
It’s annoying when insurance gets involved. My cholesterol been over 300. My fist shot of. Leqvia brought it down 194. It also somehow works on breaking up the plaque in the arteries. I have genetically high cholesterol. My mother and sisters have problems.
Unfortunately I don't have any of their criteria or genetically high cholesterol, I just can't tolerate statins due to myalgia and muscle issues. If they deny the Praluent I will see if they can look into Leqvia. Insurance is ridiculous. I'm glad your's is down. Mine was 281 and is now down to 202 but if they don't approve the Praluent not sure what I will do. I can take statins for 5 months, go off a month and back on so not sure it's good to go up and down like that with the numbers
It’s frustrating when something works then poof they decide to change it or the insurance will no longer cover it. I can’t take any of the statins they elevate my live enzymes and the pain is horrendous in the joints and every where else.
