Tissue expander pain - tightness in pectoral muscles

Hi, I’m new here. Looking for some guidance on understanding my tissue expander placement and resulting discomfort. I had a bilateral mastectomy almost 3 weeks ago, tissue expanders were placed during that surgery. Everything is feeling much better now except the expanders where they are tacked up into my armpits. The placement created “drapes” of skin that now rub against each other and sweat. I have to stand with hands on hips to get relief - not a good option if I’m looking to wait through radiation and recovery before reconstruction (6 months+). I haven’t started getting them filled yet and I’ve been reassured that the saline will help ease the discomfort, but I’m not convinced that the problem near my armpits will be addressed. Anyone have this issue with expanders pulled tight in pectoral muscles?

My tissue expanders were put in full. It was quite uncomfortable everywhere around the area for two months. It was bearable but I was constantly in pain using oxy and tylenol and muscle relaxers. I was also told not to use my arms at all - especially nothing repetitive or over head. A mastectomy pillow that you wear was very comforting. After the implants were placed I was having pain in one armpit. I was recommended by doctor to get a good professional bra fitting.. I am 8 months out and presently do not have pain but left breast is still feeling ‘strange’.
Hang in there. It gets better but takes time. I was lucky to not have to have radiation. Best wishes.
