Time passing way too fast
Does anyone else feel like time is passing way too fast as we get older?
It used to be bad enough, but now it's going faster than the speed of light.

Yes, it does seem that way. But the upside is that I now appreciate each and every day so much! The simple things in life like meeting a friend for coffee of having dinner with family make me so happy. I’m trying to do something each day that brings me joy. I’m still looking forward to many years ahead, but they are aren’t guaranteed..

10 ReactionsIt's always been going at the same speed. You just realize how fast when you see the finish line on the horizon.

6 ReactionsI've always enjoyed thinking about time. I'll say to my husband about events ten years ago--that seems so long ago. But he says--it seems like ten years. (I never quite know what that means, though!)
Anyway, my ways to slow time down include being with my granddaughter--now 7--and going at her pace of looking at everything, inquiring into every bug and leaf, and more. I also find doing "nothing"--like just sitting outside--slows time down too. And I've always noticed how being bored REALLY slows time down. Thanks for the topic.

5 ReactionsYes, I keep asking to have things in the afternoon as in the morning mornings. It takes me too long to get going to make a 9 o’clock or 10 appointment.

5 ReactionsI notice this most watching the grandkids age. When my own children reached 6 yo, it felt like a full 6 years, although I enjoyed them much. My granddaughter turning 6 feels like it took only two years to get here.

4 ReactionsMy mother, who lived to 94, observed to us one day that she felt her life was "like a roll of toilet paper - the closer I get to the end, the faster it goes." I doubt this was original with her, but it surely seemed apt!

14 Reactions@bonocon Very apt. It's the mind's self-training at work. As we age we learn stuff, we integrate it (if we have a modicum of intelligence), and we tend to put it to use each waking moment. The aged mind may be slow, but it's agile and has tons of experiential learning and information with which to solve problems. I think most of us find 'pondering' kinda fun, and we do more and more of it. We do it making coffee, sitting on the can, waiting at a traffic light...and before you know it it's lunch, or supper, or it's time to get to bed. 😀

9 Reactions@gloaming Thank you for putting words to this SEEMING waste of time. I do enjoy pondering - considering things from many different angles. More time passes than I realize, but much of my pondering includes purposefully sharing it with the Lord ~ time well spent and actually refreshing. It's definitely a perk to growing older (and living alone). Blessings to you! ~Barb

6 Reactions@minnesota I always ask for afternoon appointments, so that nothing interferes with my mornings, which is my meditation, reading time and gym time. Chores and appointments can come later for me.

6 Reactions@gloaming Yes, I love just sitting and pondering. About anything and everything! And being bored is so nice now, plus it does seem to slow down time. After years and years of raising kids and going to work, days where I have nothing to do are a treat!!!:)
