Thyroid Nodules

Posted by anon808 @anon808, Nov 5, 2022

In July I had a hysterectomy. In October I started getting super anxious, nauseous, no appetite, food tasted funny, and maybe even depressed. I saw my gynecologist who blew it off and said it couldn’t be happening because I was past menopause. I followed up with my PCP who took bloodwork. My TSH came back at .38 and he suspected Hyperthyroidism. I took the beta blocker, and it made me my legs weak. Then I try the thyroid blocker and it made me very sick. On Monday I found a endocrinologist who was young and fast and he started me on five days of 40 mg of prednisone. He took a thyroid scan in the office and said I had multiple nodules. I’m not clear on what the five days of prednisone will do. In the mean time I also started low dose Zoloft. I’m not sure if I’m fixing the chicken or the egg. On Wednesday, Day two of the prednisone I went to the ER because my heart was racing. I guess it was the prednisone because by the evening it was back to normal. They took blood again, and my TSH was .15 and my T3 and T4 were normal. I’m still waiting for the bloodwork from LabCorp that they took before I started the prednisone treatment. Can anyone help me understand what’s going on. I’m still physically shaky and nervous. I just want to feel better of course as we all do. Today is my last dose of prednisone. I hope it’s done something.

Hope you are feeling better and have more answers. Prednisone is a great medicine but tough for me to take(anxiety/puffy face) No Dr here but sounds like he may have suspected thyroiditis reason for Prednisone.
