Thin stools for almost 2 years

Posted by Garygirl @taftst1, Sep 28, 2023

Had Total knee replacement that did not go well and not a revision candidate. Still on 7 mg total a day of oxycodone. Developed Tachycardia after laparoscopic surgery and taking Dilitizem for that. Taking miralax and senna, stools are thin. Not dark, no cramping just scary. Anyone experienced thin stools but not ribbon thin? Thanks!

Miralax is meant to stop that. If it doesn’t perhaps you should increase the dose or change. Benefiber works great for me and they have it in gummy form. Very effective and you can take more or less according to need.

I was just told yesterday as we get older that’s what happens. Nothing seems to help for very long.

I use a supplement called Emma
It does work pretty good, but it is expensive I don’t use it all the time just when I have a lot of problems it’s worth a try

Yes. I have very thin stools after several colon surgeries. I went to see a gastroenterologist and she said it was constipation. I told her I go all the time, it's just thin so that can't be right. They did an x-ray, and sure enough, the colon was full! She said it's like a semi-clogged drain. The thin stools are the more softer stuff coming through the center of the clogged channel. They recommended doing a split dose colon prep clean out with miralax. Most of the bottle, split into two doses, just like a colonoscopy prep. Then they said to begin a daily dose of miralax and eat plenty of fiber and make sure I am drinking enough. I also have SIBO, which you may or may not, but that can contribute to the problem.
