The relationship of the thyroid and heart
I never was diagnosed with thyroid issues. My blood tests were always normal.
Now I am post thyroidectomy. Post radiation and chemotherapy.
I asked the oncology nurse if I should see a cardiologist. Yes, she said.
I thought that on Levothyroxine, I would be fine. I did see a cardiologist, and he explained that the thyroid changes hormone levels in response to the heart and body's needs. Levothyroxine is static .
I have learned that the heart and thyroid work together closely. I am still learning about my body at age 72.
If you have had a thyroidectomy you may want to be in the care of a cardiologist.
I will have a echocardiogram and blood test this summer and then see the cardiologist after.
Feel free to share thoughts. Thanks.

KLMNJ, I really believe that everything in the body is interdependent. Your comment about how the thyroid and heart affect each other is enlightening. I, or my family have no history of any heart troubles. That being said. after I had major lumbar surgery I developed A-Fib which is now controlled (???) by medication. I feel it was due to the heavy anesthesia necessary for that operation and now I am shortly having complete thyroid removal (plus node biopsies, metastasis check, etc. while I am opened up) due to cancer and more heavy sedation. So, I am wondering how that will effect the A-Fib or my heart in general? Just another thing to add to my "not liking the results of thyroid cancer treatment at all" list. I've been very healthy all my life and not used to dealing with these difficulties so when I do have these problems I am kind of a baby, so I need all the help I can get. Thanks
