I have seen many posts about people with their animals and just had to share this link to an article I just read in a magazine I subscribe to online.

I would hesitate to click on this because of so much fraud out there. How do we know we won't infect our computers with malware?

Hi Marilyn, cautions is a good thing. I was familiar with the source so I clicked on it and it is a link to a real and interesting article.

Knowable Magazine is a legitimate publisher of thought-provoking and sometimes scholarly articles from a variety of sources (knowablemagazine.org) Here is their mission statement:
"Knowable Magazine is a nonprofit, mission-driven publication that seeks to make scientific knowledge accessible to all. Free to read, republish and share. An editorially independent journalistic endeavor published by Annual Reviews."

Here is the direct link to the article:

FYI, and everyone else, when you see a long link like this, it is often because the poster received it via email. You can almost always look at the beginning of the link, and tracing through, cut off everything after the first punctuation in the link that is not : / or - Here you would remove everything from the ? forward.

Also, to verify a source, you could Google "Knowable Magazine" without any Web address, and see what comes up.
Happy reading.
Sue

in reply to @thisismarilynb My apologies for creating the concern that you described. I can assure you that I would never post anything without ensuring that the link(s) I provide are to reputable websites. I too am very cautious, especially more recently with all the news about AI, fraud against seniors and things of that nature. As a sidebar, I just read another article from The Cleveland Clinic, which I also subscribe to and had planned to post it today because I thought others might find some helpful information about self compassion, something I know I struggle with. Here is the site location to the article if you are interested. The Cleveland Clinic is a very trusted site

I, too, read articles from Cleveland Clinic because I trust them. Thank you for clarifying the preceding post regarding the magazine. I also trust the Mayo Clinic. Most of the "doctoring" I do on myself are from these two clinics. Where I live we have Loma Linda Clinic. They are rated highly but I find it not to be true. I have been through many primary care doctors. Either they leave or I leave. They do have excellent specialists though. I had to have a full hip replacement and I wanted a particular surgeon because I heard he was the best. I had to wait several months but he was the best. Now I walk without pain and only a very small scar which you can scarcely see.

in reply to @thisismarilynb Another good site is the NIH. A wealth of information. Personally, I do not do a lot of Googling regarding my health issues, but if something comes up that I really want to know about I do go to the most trusted sites. On the other hand, my next door neighbor prides herself that she is able to "diagnose" many, including herself, by using the internet. She calls herself Dr. Sandy. LOL

Thank you for that link, I subscribed right away. Also a fan of Cleveland Clinic, who helped me defeat vertigo years ago.
