Hi @rukesh There can be many reasons for a high white blood count. The most common is a reaction to an infection. Our body’s defense is our immune system. When there is an infection or any illness, the alert goes out to increase white blood cell production to help control the illness.
If your WBC seems to be high only during this time of your throat infection that it is most likely the cause. This should correct itself within a couple of weeks after your infection is gone.
You seem concerned that this isn’t normal for you. So you could wait a few weeks after you’re feeling better and then have your blood count evaluated again just to make sure this is related to your sore throat. What type of infection do you have?
