Thank you to Mayo and those who share

Posted by susan7656 @susan7656, Dec 24, 2024

This message board has been helpful, inspirational, and educational for me since being diagnosed on September 27 of 2024 with breast cancer.

To those at Mayo who monitor the platform, thank you for doing such a good job. This resource is so valuable.

And to the women who post or respond or just click on “helpful” …. Thank you for the sense of community you build.

You have all helped me feel I am not alone during this incredibly difficult time.

Happy holidays to all. May the new year bring us joy and resilience.

Susan7656- Wishing you peace as this Holiday proceeds. With the right medical team, a belief in the right care, and supportive family and many friends, we can walk through anything a day at a time. Above all else I hope my friends on this journey have a diagnosis that is manageable,
Mayo is unique as this platform has real patients as mentors. Not experts in knowledge by book or training. But those who have walked or are walking with us. That is priceless.

@susan7656 Happy Holidays to you! Like you the support from this community has provided me with strength and comfort during this difficult journey. I’m still waiting for my prophylactic DMX surgery but I don’t feel so much worried owing to the invaluable advices and encouragement from this community.
Thank you for being here. Hugs.

@susan7656, it is always good to hear from members like you @katgob and @myoga and many more that Mayo Clinic Connect and its members provide comfort, information and support when you need it.

Thank you for mentioning the people who help monitor the platform. It takes all of us. I'll repeat a comment I made in the Holiday blog here:
- Sharing brings hope: Connect is open for the holidays https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/about-connect/newsfeed-post/sharing-brings-hope-connect-is-open-for-the-holidays/

Volunteer Mentors, trusted fellow members of the community, are the backbone on this community. Meet the mentors and learn more about what they do here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/about-connect/tab/volunteer-mentors/

I also would like to acknowledge the vital role of
- Super Helpers who check in every day to Mayo Clinic Connect to see who might need a hug, tips, or simply a listening ear.
- Greeters, who make a point of welcoming new members who post for the first time. https://connect.mayoclinic.org/blog/about-connect/newsfeed-post/be-a-greeter-welcome-members-when-they-make-their-first-post/
- New members, who are brave enough to ask a question even about the tough and taboo subjects.

It takes a village to create this community. Together we do better.

@colleenyoung … we are grateful for all of “the village” community you detailed. As someone who has spent her career in communications, I recognize the consistency, expertise, and the crucial compassion you all bring to this highly valuable work.
