Experiences going from Forteo to Evenity
I’ve had a lot is side effects using Forteo.
Should I stop Forteo and start Evenity?
Or are side effects of Evenity as bad as Forteo?

@06111945cc would you also consider switching to Tymlos, which works in a similar way as Forteo? I could not tolerate Forteo. I did tolerate Tymlos for two years mainly because the injection pen is adjustable. Some of us try a lower dose (1/4 or 1/2) and either stay with 1/2 or move up to 3/4 or evcn full dose. I did Evenity after Tymlos for 4 months, but I liked Tymlos the most of all the meds I have tried. None of them seem to be without side effects for me but Tymlos was, for me, the gentlest and very effective.
My endo discouraged me from trying Tymlos.
Her patients, she said, had more side effects with it than Forteo.
@windyshores, I totally agree with you about your experience with Tymlos. During my two years, I had no injection issues, no side effects, and, thankfully, positive scan score results. I echo your "gentlest" description.
@06111945cc if your T score is very low and/or you have a very high FRAX risk that you need to build bone in a relative short time, then evenity might be the way to go althougn side effects will be unknown to you. Otherwise, don't rule out the PTH analog - Forteo or Tymlos. They both are very well studied with great track records. Forteo especially so - it has abundance of studies over many years in the areas of combination therapy as well as sequential therapy, which are so important for long term management of osteoporosis. If you have never had any antiresorptive treatment, then this is the best time to figure out whether either one of the PTH analog is usable to you. By knowing this, you'd have more tools in your tool box in the future should you need anabolic treatment again. If you absolutely can't tolerate Forteo, @windyshores' suggestion of swithing to Tymlos is a sensible idea. Tymlos pen is adjustable which allows you to start with a low dose so your body could adapt gradually to the eventual full dose.
I saw your post in another thread. Did Quest give you 9/13/2024 CTX result as 472? PINP of 80 on 9/13/24 from an earlier post is correct? Regardless what you and your endo decide to do next, hope you could get a dexa scan at the conclusion of Forteo (if you discontinue it) so you at least know how impactful your every other day dosing is to your bmd.
@06111945cc As I wrote, I could not tolerate Forteo at all but did two years of Tymlos. If you have been reading this forum, you can see that some tolerate Forteo better and some tolerate Tymlos better (especially with the adjustable dosing). I disagree with your doctor but understand you have to work with them. Maybe you could mention the adjustable pen. I had 20% gain in spine with less than full dose. My doctor is fully on board with titrating.
Definitly go from Forteo. But to Evenity? There is a black box reason. From many there would be a constantly aching joints reason. I'm already in the loud chorus of crickets chimiming "Tymlos." But without the experience of Evenity.
Bless your choice.
Dear gently,
Many thanks.
I will try Tymlos.
I just need to understand the cost.
Blessings,

@06111945cc look up Radius Assist for their financial assistance. I got my Tymlos for free for 18 months.
