What's your experience with Tamoxifen? Osteoporosis & fibrosis

Posted by ginny100 @ginny100, 5 days ago

Hi all🙏. I have a secondary breast cancer mass in my left breast. Right one mastectomies! Suffering from radiotherapy damage. A lot of fibrosis, including in my lung and throat, restricted arm movement. Now they are suggesting hormone blocker, Tamoxifen as my osteoporosis is bad. What are peoples experiences with Tamoxifen? What side effects did you have and has it reduces your cancer load? Would very much appreciate some feedback on this. Thank you and all the best to everyone.🤗🤗

How long ago did you have the radiation.? Was it for the secondary or first. I am struggling with deciding to use Tamafloxin since I have osteoporosis. The rare side affect of uterine cancer and blood clots freaks me out, since I have so many other issues to deal with. I. Sure you will make the right decisions for yourself. Were you taking anything before this to block hormones?
🙏 for you and all of us.

I had radiotherapy March 2024 for locally advanced breast cancer. 12 years after mastectomy and sentinel node removal breast cancer cells showed up on my skin where the surgery had taken place.
Didn’t take anything. Lived very well for 12 years on a vegan diet, exercise and yoga meditation. Now the radiation is impacting on my quality of life. I am loathed to start medication which is going to make me feel more ill. Maybe I just have to take my chances… I have to die sometime. 🤪🤪😄😄 I am now 75 years old and living with a husband who has dementia and the children not near. Such is life!! Wishing you and all the very best 🙏🙏🙏

I had stage 1 invasive breast cancer and have osteoporosis. Had 5 radiation treatments, then started 20mg of tamoxifen. After 6 weeks of 20 mg tamoxifen developed severe leg cramps & oncologist dropped dosage to 5 mg and told me I can take a 90 day holiday every year if cramping comes back. Minimal leg cramps at 5mg. I did take a 30 day holiday this fall when my allergies flared & I had several viral infections - felt that my body needed a break.
My perspective is try it, talk to oncologist about any issues, and ask about alternatives. You have a lot on your plate 🙏
