Taking too many meds @ bedtime and feel out of it the next day

Posted by mariajean03 @mariajean03, Jul 7, 2023

I have OCD and depression and need to cut down on Gabapentin @ bedtime but afraid I'll stay awake and do compulsions. I also have psychological insomnia. Dr. says I could go from 300mg. to200mg. I can't get the courage to do it. Does anyone else feel dizzy from meds and have weird dreams? Is isolation a problem because all people see is the stigma?

Personally, I would encourage you to try it -- you can always increase again if it backfires. My experience was dramatic -- on numerous meds for years, I eventually needed to wean off (with doctor's knowledge and cooperation) and did so, one at a time, very slowly. My sleep patterns changed but nothing I couldn't handle, and people started commenting on how I had "come to life" and wasn't a "zombie" any more. Now when I have a down day, I accept it as part of being normal, no longer sedated. My new doctor has no experience with my past, and wants to prescribe SSRI's for everything (sleep, pain, anxiety) but to me, it has to get a lot worse before I'll do that again ... we have a strained relationship, to say the least.

Thank you for this. I had never heard of Gabapentin for OCD/Depression. I have a family member that has that. Does it help your OCD/Depression? I research all I can to help them. Blessings....

I've cut down to 200mg with success. Working with a personal pharmacist.
