Swelling in scrotum after colon cancer surgery: Any men have this?

Posted by maya8238 @maya8238, Dec 30, 2022

my surgery was on Tuesday. Went well. I have been discharged. All seems to be standard but one thing. I have swelling in my scrotum and my penis. The doctor said it could be fluid that wasn’t absorbed but it’s very concerning. No pain and and I’m able to urinate. Any men in this group experience the same symptom?

Hello @maya8238. It sounds like you were sent home with swelling and that your doctor felt it was normal or not something to be concerned about. I wonder if you've been been applying ice packs to the scrotum and then following that with a sitz baths to decrease swelling? Were you given ice to use post-surgery at the hospital?

Thank you for replying. I was not given any ice for it and it was never discussed and I didn’t really have it until after. It’s gotten better today so I’m feeling a little less worried. I was not sent home on antibiotics either. Just pain medication but so far it’s improved so I’m waiting it out
