Hi @lotsofpain, I have not heard of taping the lower abdomen to help with constipation. You will notice that we changed your discussion title a little to better describe your question. I did find a study on the topic that has not yet started active recruiting that I thought I would share while we wait for members who have experience to respond.
"It is known that abdominal massage, which is one of the physiotherapy approaches, reduces the severity of gastrointestinal symptoms and increases bowel movements. Kinesio taping applied for constipation can also increase bowel movement, increase the frequency of defecation and decrease the duration of defecation."

Have you discussed support taping with a physical therapist?
I know what you are talking about, "tapping."
Note that England's National Health Service has a massage for constipation. It helps and has a tapping phase. I recommend doing their process, from the top.
