"Support " Group ?

Posted by Vaughn Allen Goodwin @unionizer, Oct 9 12:46pm

As a survivor of Prostate Cancer who was diagnosed at Stage 3 and wants to reach out and be connected to others, I came to Mayo wishing to be a part of a group, particularly as an African-American, of those who have survived and are surviving. When I came, no one appeared. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I was trying to join virtually from Zoom, and yes, I am a registered patient of Mayo. Please share your experience with the support group either virtually or in person.

Interested in more discussions like this? Go to the Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Go to Ancan.org They have weekly advanced prostate cancer meetings and also have low/intermediate prostate cancer meetings. You do need to install GoTo meeting to attend the meetings, but it’s no big deal and available on all platforms

Sign up and they send a really informative newsletter weekly.

There are always African-American people in the meetings, everyone is welcome. We even have people from South and Central America as well as Canada.

As a new person in the meeting, you get priority and they will help you with your cancer. They have people with more than 15 years experience working with prostate cancer patients. You can also watch previous meetings and see how things are done. Had two new people from this chat group in the meeting last night.
