Support for very loose / bad SI joint?

Posted by dkindc @dkindc, 3 days ago

I have two SI belts that don't seem to help. PT helped me put them on to no avail. There is a sacral girdle type of thing that supports SI joints as well? Similar to Spanx or Jelliebend - do they seem to help most folks?

I cannot get surgery on the SI joint due to osteoporosis. PT seems to make it worse no matter how gentle.

SI problem is due to parkinsons gait which I am trying to address as well as I can. Thank you.

@dkindc I'm sorry you are struggling with ongoing pain, and I too was initially diagnosed with left SI joint disorder. I bought the belts which only helped a little, tried therapy which didn't help...because the SI joint wasn't the problem. I saw a Neurosurgeon who accurately diagnosed after a MRI that I had herniated disc's and that the Lumbar 4/5 had slipped forward on the vertebral column. My only option was a spinal fusion with allograft, which was performed both from the anterior (front) and Posterior (back). By the time this surgery was finally scheduled I was walking like a monkey and was unable to even stand up straight. After the surgery, all the pain in my hip and over the SI joint was gone. It had been referred pain from the spinal issues all along. I suggest further testing if you haven't already received it. I did go through 5 Orthos, multiple xrays and CTs but in the end, the most qualified physician diagnosed the problem correctly. Best of luck to you.
