Stopping a pending adrenal crisis
I was diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency a year and a half ago. My endocrinologist prescribed the solu cortef injection to keep on hand in case of a crisis. My AI is from 4 years on prednisone for PMR.
Suddenly after a busy day about 4 pm I felt terribly ill, sweating, stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea. I finally realized it might be AI and I took 5 mg prednisone. I was feeling better in a half hour but still feel wiped out hours later. Did I take enough prednisone? Do I wait until I am headed for unconsciousness to inject? Should I have injected for this severe build up of a crisis? I will discuss with my endocrinologist but don’t see him until Halloween. Advice please.

@queenie2030 - If it were me, I would pick up the phone and call my endocrinologist and ask them your question. Here's more information on adrenal crisis that is helpful for answering the questions you ask but talking with your doctor is best - https://www.endocrinology.org/clinical-practice/clinical-guidance/adrenal-crisis/.
I have reached out to my endocrinologist and am awaiting contact. Thank you for your response.
