Does anyone else have such acidic activ stool on their ostomy, that it swells and crumbles their barriere ring/ donut. Never used the paste, but seems like the answer. Any similar stories???

I use a small regular Eakin ring backing my flange. It squishes through as the days pass to in front of the flange at the edges of of hole I cut into the flange. It does not dry out or crumble. I have no idea if my answer is relevant or not.
I have better results with the adhesive paste.
Since my enterocutaneous fistula (small intestine to skin) opened up my surgery incision, my "stoma" was setting in a 5-inch wide hole. Started out a couple of inches so I used an ostomy bag and barrier rings. Once the incision opened up too wide for the ostomy bag, I had to switch to a wound bag. Because this wasn't an ileostomy, I had a lot of skin exposed. Because the incision hole was in a crease, the ostomy and wound bags couldn't cover the skin in the crease. Paste didn't work for me. It would dissolve in a few hours. I could get 2 days with the rings. I went through this for 6 months. I was finally scheduled for surgery when I discovered that the wafer part of Convatec bags are soft like the rings and have clear plastic on it so would have gone down into the crease more and not dissolve because of the plastic. The free sample they gave me was too big to use but I was able to cut the wafer part and use it in the crease. There are also moldable strips. I liked the flat ones but they're too thin. For a real stoma there are also moldable strips like rope. I didn't try those. I had to much skin to cover.
