Stage 4 Colon Cancer: No appetite
My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer with it spreading into her intestines. She had an ileostomy a month ago and she is on her second round of chemo today. Every time she eats she either gags or vomits. She has no appetite and everything she tries to eat, she says doesn’t taste good to her. Has anyone else experienced loss of appetite or feeling nauseous with every bite of food? If so, any recommendations? She’s lost 22 pounds in 2 and a half months and continues to lose 2-3 pounds every two weeks.

I don't have colorectal cancer but ovarian cancer stage 4 that involved my colon and have since had my colon removed. During my first go around of chemo treatments, I was the same with the gagging and vomiting. I couldn't even put a toothbrush in my mouth without gagging/vomiting. I lost 40 lbs all together.
I started getting hydration therapy twice a week and what a difference that made!
No more vomiting and the nausea was soo much improved.
I suspect with an illeostomy Dehydration is an ongoing challenge? I was told it would be without my colon.
Hope this helps.
Dehydration is a huge ongoing challenge and she usually is very dehydrated even though she does her best to drink liquids. I’m going to look into hydration therapy, thank you so much for replying and giving me this information. All the best, thank you so much.
Let me know how things are going. Praying for the best!
