What medicine? They're not poison.
Albert clearly stated that that was the opinion of 2 doctors he saw.
I went to see both doctors Spine and Hip , because i went to a Gym in order to have strength training for the osteoporosis and hurt my back. ( trainer did not know what she was doing ) . so I thought I had fractured my hip because the pain was in my left hip. Thank Gd, no fracture just my disc had slipped.
this is how all began . had a dexa, -3.5, went to gym , hurt myself, went to hip and spine doctors and asked the regarding the bone medicines, and both doctors answered with the same word. anyway i went to endocrinologist and her opinion was have the blood work and then we decide which medicine..
Opinion of the 2 surgeons regarding the bone medicines. Spine surgeon and hip surgeon . I do not know if i am looking for someone to tell me not to take them , but if i need them i do not know what to do. Thank Gd I only take aspirin and a cholesterol medicine i am 67
Take this as you may, I believe surgeons do their best work in the operating room, endocrinologists are ‘medication’ doctors. Did you ask the surgeons why they thought medications were poison? If you are talking about biphosphonates or other bone strengthening therapies, they are very mainstream and considered “the gold standard “ of care.
I wonder why two different surgeons would be so openly dismissive…
I do not understand either, but this are 2 great surgeons spine and hip so I thought their opinion would be very valuable since this is what they fix. but I did go to and endocrinologist and i am waiting on blood work and urine tests to see if there is a cause for the bone lose . thank you . but i am very scared of the side effects of all of the medicines.
In the meantime there are ways to improve bone strength (or at least minimize worsening ) without Rx meds. Have your vitamin D checked and take supplements, along with vitamin K2, calcium, magnesium. Weight bearing exercises, start with physical therapy given your bad experience with a trainer. Diet. Quit alcohol and smoking.
There is a group on mayo connect dedicated to osteoporosis. I’d recommend joining, they into great detail on things you can do yourself as well as pros and cons of prescription drugs.
Maybe because they have had to fix the damage caused by patients being on Fosamax too many years. Some pharmacists share their opinion.
I had a friend on FOSAMAX for 5 years. Now she has osteonecrosis of the jaw. That is supposed to very rare. I try to do everything that I can so I don't have to go on osteoporosis medication.
These medications were recommended for me after prostate cancer treatment gave me osteopenia and osteoporosis but I'm also terrified of them and have read horrible things. I'm waiting to see an endocrinologist to ask about this, but I'm going to see if there are any in pill form so that, if the side effects are bad, I can just stop taking the pills vs. being stuck with side effects for a year while the injectables wear off.
